Flax Seeds – Description&Care Tips
 Description:
Flax Seeds (also known as Alsi in Hindi and Aali Vidhai in Tamil) are small, brown or golden seeds packed with omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and plant-based protein. They are rich in lignans (antioxidants) and are known for supporting heart health, digestion, and hormonal balance.
They can be consumed raw, roasted, powdered, or mixed into smoothies, yogurts, chutneys, and baked goods.
✅ Care & Storage Tips:
1. Storage Container:
Store in an airtight, opaque container to protect from air, moisture, and light.
2. Storage Location:
Keep in a cool, dark, dry place (like a pantry).
For longer shelf life, especially in hot climates, store in the refrigerator or freezer.
3. Ground Flax Seeds:
Whole seeds stay fresh longer.
Ground flax seeds (powder) spoil faster — store in the refrigerator and use within 2–4 weeks.
4. Avoid Heat and Light:
Exposure to sunlight and heat can cause rancidity (a bitter or oily smell/taste).
5. Check for Freshness:
Fresh flax seeds have a nutty smell.
Discard if they develop a bitter, sour, or oily odor.
6. Use Dry Spoons:
Always use dry hands or spoons to avoid introducing moisture.
