Karun Kuruvai Rice (கருந்குருவைஅரிசி) is a traditional organic rice variety from Tamil Nadu, cultivated during the kuruvai season (short-term cropping period). It is dark reddish-brown to blackish in color and is rich in antioxidants, iron, and minerals. Known for its medicinal value, it is believed to help detox the body and boost immunity, especially during seasonal changes.
It is ideal for preparing kanji (porridge), idli/dosa batter, and soft rice meals.
